How to report

Geekbot is configured to trigger stand-up meetings at a specific time on the day - or days - that you’ve set up.

When it is time for a stand-up, Geekbot will ask the first question in a direct message. When you are done answering the questions, it will post your report in the broadcast channel along with all your team members reports, asynchronously. If you choose not to answer your report immediately, Geekbot will send you reminders that are configurable in your dashboard.

How to edit your answers

So you’ve submitted your answers and forgot to add a few things that just slipped your mind?
No sweat!

Just go to your direct messages with Geekbot and edit your answers, save your changes and your report will be updated both in the broadcast channel within Slack, as well as the dashboard’s timeline. If you wish, you can also delete your report entirely simply by deleting your answers. It will then be removed from the channel and the dashboard.

Report guidelines

All reports should be short and substantial in order to deliver the team's progress fast and efficiently. Avoid writing big sentences and over-analyzing your tasks. When you’ve worked on multiple tasks, an easy way to report them is to create a list.

To format your report as a list, use Shift+Enter to create new lines in your message, then add a dash - or a bullet before each item. Remember to include @mentions in blockers to alert your team members instantly.
